MRC Proximity to Discovery secondment scheme
Next deadline is 16th January 2017.
The University has recently secured institutional funding from the Medical Research Council (MRC) to run fund calls under the Proximity to Discovery Scheme, a key part of the MRC’s Translational Research Strategy and a component of MRC Biomedical Catalyst.
The Scheme is designed to foster the establishment of new collaborations by specifically providing support to early interactions and knowledge exchange between external partners and academic researchers. The scheme will support new industry interactions or initiate new projects with existing partners in key MRC strategic areas (http://www.mrc.ac.uk/research/strategy/).
The award to Sheffield will support PDRAs and professional staff to work within the MRC remit with an external partner, either within the University or preferably at the partner’s site on a project, or enable an external partner to come into the University to work on a project. Projects can last for a maximum of 3 months in total, either full time or part time.
External partners may include industry, business, public sector/government or other non-profit sector organisations. External academic establishments are not supported by this scheme.
An application form and guidance are available from the link on the right hand side of this page. All applicants must contact the appropriate business/commercial manager assigned to their department/Faculty prior to submission. Please visit our The Team pages for further contact information.
